Summer has officially kicked off and we cannot wait to go out and enjoy it. We’re sure you can’t wait to do the same! You’ve packed your beach bag, you’ve planned the perfect summer to-do list with your friends. Well, whether you’re out enjoying some time laying on the beach, or having summer adventures with your friends, your hair may be exposed to a lot of harsh conditions. This is why we have compiled some summer do’s and dont’s that will help you keep your hair safe, and ready to take on any situation.
During summer your hair will be exposed to many unpleasant conditions that will damage your hair. Luckily, we know some top tips that will save you from unnecessary stress.
Protect your hair from UV damage: If you are planning on spending long periods of time out in the sun be sure to protect your hair from the sun’s harmful UV rays. You can do this by wearing a sun hat to shield your hair from the sun, plus you will look absolutely gorgeous rocking it! Another great way to protect your hair during sun exposure is to use sunscreen. That’s right! Sunscreen is not only for your skin. Products such as, Sun Bum Beach Leave In Formula, Aveda Sun Care Protective Veil, Pre-Soleil Hair Mist, and Paul Mitchell Sun Shield Conditioning Spray will protect your hair while you enjoy your summer plans.
Try a DIY natural hair remedy: If you already have some damage caused by the sun, not to worry! We also know of a way to nourish your hair to bring it back to its former healthy form. We recommend trying a DIY natural hair mask, such as a nourishing avocado hair mask. Avocado is rich in fatty acids, and vitamin E, which help nourish and promote hair growth. There are many other hair-boosting ingredients that help nourish dry, damaged hair. Coconut oil, eggs, olive oil, and honey are just a few of the ingredients that we recommend using. So, don’t be afraid to mix these ingredients to create your own hair-nourishing hair mask!
Read our “Summer Hair With Snappee” blog post: You will find some beautiful summer hairstyles that are easy to create using our Snappees, plus they require little to no hair product, which is what your hair is begging for this summer!
Of course there are precautions you should also take. During summer there are some hair routines that may not be a big deal during non summer months, but while the sun is shining outside you should definitely avoid doing these:
Brush Hair While It Is Still Wet: Although you will probably be doing a lot of activities that involve water, you should be extra careful brushing your hair during the hot summer months as doing so will add more stress to your hair. When your hair is wet it is weaker, and more susceptible to damage. For this reason, when you’re done hitting the pool, or the beach, use a wide-tooth comb and start untangling from the bottom up.
Use Heat: Go easy on Straighteners, curling irons, and blow dryers they will further damage your hair creating split ends and dry hair. Instead, give your hair a break and try a cute heatless hairstyle, trust us your hair will appreciate it! If you need to dry your hair, what better way than going natural or air drying your hair?
Use Quick Drying Products: Hair products such as gel or hairspray, although effective in maintaining your hairdo on point, can cause dry hair, which is why we recommend using as little as possible, or better yet rock your hair in a no-heat, no-product hairdo.
This summer be sure to take care of your locks! Go out and enjoy summer without having to worry about your hair getting damaged. By following our summer hair do’s and dont’s we guarantee that you and your hair will have an awesome time doing all those summer activities you have planned. Sure your hair will be put through many harsh conditions, but it will come out strong and healthy!
